History
The Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) is a tertiary government hospital with a 1500-bed capacity located in the center of Davao City. It is an accredited training institution of 17 different medical specialties, including Dermatology. Within the hospital grounds are the Mindanao Heart Institute, the Cancer Institute, the Institute for Women and Newborn Health Building, a main building for admitted patients, an ICU complex, a state-of-the-art ER complex, and a building dedicated to providing out-patient services donated by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) which houses the Department of Dermatology outpatient clinic.
The Department of Dermatology was established in 1996 — the first and only in existence in the Visayas and Mindanao regions. The department has been given full accreditation status by the Philippine Dermatological Society Accreditation Board from 2005 up to the present.

Hansen’s Club: Heart in Hand to Heal
The Hansen’s Club: Heart in Hand to Heal is dedicated to the welfare of people with Leprosy. It aims to help raise awareness of the disease and put an end to Leprosy-related stigma and discrimination. The club also offers a support group, access to scholarships and assistance to Hansen’s Disease patients.
Psoriasis Club
The Psoriasis Club is dedicated to educating, serving, and empowering people with Psoriasis. It aims to improve the quality of life of people who have psoriasis by promoting awareness and understanding of the disease and ensuring access to treatment. The club also has a support group and offers access to affordable medications.
