The 32nd PDS Annual Convention

The Philippine Dermatological Society, in cooperation with the International Society of Dermatology, held its successful 32nd Annual Convention on November 20-21, 2008 at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia Complex in Pasay City. Dubbed with the theme, “Dermatologic Diagnosis and Therapeutics: Bridging the Gap,” the event gathered various luminaries in the local and international field of dermatology. The colorful opening ceremonies led to the convention proper which was wellattended by PDS members, who listened to Welcome Remarks by Dr. Arnelfa Paliza, Opening Remarks by Dr. Georgina Pastorfide, and a Message from the ISD delivered by Dr. Luitgard G. Wiest, its Executive Vice President. A Plaque of Appreciation was then awarded to the ISD by Drs. Paliza and Pastorfide.

Participants benefited from an extensive and comprehensive scientific programme that included, among others, the Dr. Perpetuo Gutierrez Memorial Lecture entitled “Changing the Landscape of Dermatology Practice: Pathologic vs. Aesthetic” delivered by Dr. Francisca Roa, and the Maria Duran Memorial Lecture on the topic “Epidermolysis Bullosa: What’s New in Diagnosis, Pathogenesis and Therapy,” given by Prof. Deedee F. Murrell, MD.

The distinguished line-up of renowned speakers also included Prof. Torello M. Lotti, MD, Prof. Jana Hercogova, MD, Prof. George T. Reizner, MD, Prof. Thomas Ruzicka, MD, Prof. Antonella Tosti, MD, Prof. W.P.Daniel Su, MD, Dr. Luitgard G. Wiest, Dr. Dong Kun Kim, Dr. Evangeline B. Handog, Dr. Lorna F. Frez and Dr. Maria Lora G.
