The East Avenue Medical Center Department of Dermatology held its 3rd Post-Graduate Course last August 18, 2016 at the Luxent Hotel, Timog Avenue, Quezon City. The theme “Skin for All Seasons: Revitalizing the Skin at Any Age” reflects the journey into the colorful world of dermatology amidst the changing times.
Dr. Marielle M. Villanueva, Post-Graduate Course Chair extended a warm welcome to all the participants, as diverse topics on dermatological conditions were discussed in light of the changing seasons while the concepts behind skin care for all were retained.
The morning began with a series of topics and updates on aging and botulinum toxin, hair fall, body contouring, lasers and stretch marks, nail discoloration, and chemical peeling. The afternoon was filled with excitement brought about by the workshops on chemical peels, platelet-rich plasma, and fillers. In line with the concept of skin care for all, the afternoon session ended with a lay forum entitled “Skin Care 101 for Every Season”, for which experts divulged skin secrets and discussed skin care mythbusters, the role of germs, and fad diets.
The open forum segments proved to be very interesting with a lot of questions and ideas exchanged between the audience and the experts on dermatologic care. The department chairperson, Dr. Ma. Angela M. Lavadia expressed her gratitude in the closing remarks, as it was a successful and fulfilling event for everyone – the resident and consultant staff of the East Avenue Medical Center Department of Dermatology, and the participants both from the medical and non-medical community.

- No “one box fits all” – individualize your treatment goals based on your patients’
- Know your fad diet – not all works!
